Museums and festivals
Throughout the whole existence of the Hidden Russia project we enrich the Plios Calendar of Events by organising festivals, exhibitions and concerts. We are especially interested in the theme of the main geniuses in the history of Plios - Isaac Levitan and Fyodor Chaliapin.
«Exhibitions and museums»

The merchant Zubarevs' House on Nikolskaya Street is preparing to open a large exhibition “Levitan in Plios. Materialization of the Spirit” dedicated to the life of the great artist and his friends in Plios during three seasons of 1888-1890. The exhibition, which will present unique photo, audio and video materials, is a continuation and addition to the exposition of the Levitan House-Museum (House of merchant Solodovnikov), located almost opposite.

The project “Hidden Russia” came to the most, probably, depressive and unsightly settlement of Plios urban settlement - village Utyos, former (completely destroyed) estate Uteshnoe, where in 1910 and 1912 Fyodor Ivanovich Chaliapin was a guest of friends-landowners. We began to revive not Levitan's, but Chaliapin's Plios!

Now we repair and decorate dilapidated and unsightly buildings of the Soviet time: in the near future they will house the tourist center “The office of Shulepnikov's estate Utheshnoe” and the museum “Shalyapin's outbuilding” (with the room of the Chinese servant!).

In the building of the Plios Yacht Club there is an exhibition “Plios-Anadyr” dedicated to the transarctic expedition on a sailing-motor trimaran, which took place in 2011 with the support of the project “Potayennaya Rossiya”. (Visiting the exhibition by appointment.)

«Festivals and concerts»

The project «Hidden Rossiya» has a great festival tradition. Art festivals, plein airs, gastronomic events, sports competitions....

For eight years in a row, from 2008 to 2015, we held the Levitan Festival. The festival concerts were attended by such stars as People's Artist of Russia tenor Zurab Sotkilava and Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano soloist Olesya Petrova.

In the summer of 2023, in honor of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Fyodor Chaliapin, we held the first festival “Chaliapin Meadow”. Writer Tatyana Tolstaya told how she lived in Fyodor Ivanovich's dream house, film historian Adilya Khaibullina showed fragments from movies with the great bass, professional mowers taught visitors how to mow hay, as Fyodor Ivanovich...

We are now planning the 2024 season calendar. We will post announcements in this section. Keep an eye out for updates!
